"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Personal Notes:
I was given this recipe from my dear friend Joni Haugse who moved overseas and is now settled in San Antonio, TX. She moved away before we started having our annual Christmas Cookie Exchanges. Some of my dearest memories are still of us cooking, baking and sharing some wonderful meals together.

My family loves these cookies and often we don't have many to store after I bake them.
