1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
5 cups sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 ½ cups chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and sour cream; mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda. Add to cream mixture. Add nuts (if desired). Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Grease the bottom of a glass. Dip in sugar and press cookies flat. Bake 12 minutes or until done.
