3 teaspoons sugar
3 teaspoons sesame oil
6 teaspoons soy sauce
1 pound asparagus spears, trimmed and blanched
1 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Blend the sugar, sesame oil and soy sauce. Marinate the blanched asparagus for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator. To serve, arrange asparagus in low dish with spears pointing in the same direction. Pour marinade over the asparagus and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Cook asparagus in boiling water for approximately 2-3 minutes. To stop the cooking process and to add a bit of crispness to the asparagus, be sure to dip the asparagus in ice water for a few minutes-drain well.
