1 pkg (4oz) german chocolate
1/2c boiling water
1c butter
2c sugar
4 egg yolks
1c buttermilk
4 egg whites beaten stiff
1t vanilla
2 1/4c sifter flour
1t soda
1/2t salt

Icing
1 can evaporated milk
1c sugar
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
1/2c butter
1t vanilla
1 1/3c coconut
1c chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate in boiling water - cool

Cream butter and sugar, add yolks 1 at a time, blend in vanilla and chocolate.

Sift flour with soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk then fold in egg whites.

Pour into 3 9 inch pans and Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes

Icing:
Combine milk, sugar, eggs, butter and vanilla. Cook and stir over med heat until thickened. Add coconut and pecans, cool until thick enough to spread
