2 1oz bottles of red food coloring
3T Nestle Quick cocoa
1/2c shortening
1 1/2c sugar
2 eggs
1t soda
2 1/2c cake flour
1t salt
1T vinegar
1t vanilla
1c buttermilk

Icing
1 stick butter
1c sugar
2/3c milk
8T shortening
3Tflour
1t vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix coloring and cocoa. Cream sugar and shortening add coloring and eggs. Beat 10 minutes.

Sift flour and salt

Mix soda and milk add alternately with flour to creamed mixture

Add vanilla and vinegar

Pour in greased and floured cake pans and bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes. Place a pan of water un the cake while baking. Cool

Icing:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add flour slowly, add milk slowly then add vanilla. Beat 12 minutes and spread on cooled cake.

Store cake in refrigerator
