2 lb powdered sugar
1 cup Crisco shortening
1 tsp white vanilla
2 tsp white Karo syrup
1/2 cup water
1 tsp Compliment*
3-4 drops butter flavor*
1/2 cup icing base

*available at local bakery supply store

Cream all liquids except water with mixer; add powdered sugar and alternate with water. Makes A LOT!

This is the icing recipe that I was given when I took cake decorating lessons. Every specialty birthday cake that I made when you guys were growing up was frosted with this icing!
