⅔ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
¼ cup light molasses
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Greased cookie sheet

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg and molasses and beat well
Add sifted dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Roll dough out to ⅛" thick on lightly floured surface
Cut with floured cookie cutter and place on cookie sheet

Bake about 10 minutes

Kathryn states " I find they roll easily, but many times I just drop small balls and flatten them with a sugared glass.
