Aunt Grace's Banana Nut Bread Recipe

2 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. soda
3/4 t. salt

1/2 c. shortening (butter or margarine can b e substituted)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla

1 c. mashed bananas (2-3) riper is better
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Can also add chocolate chips, or dried fruit such as raisins, cranberries or cherries

Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl.

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla together in a large bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients alternating with sour cream. Add bananas and fold in nuts.

Pour into a greased and floured bread pan.

Bake at 325 for 10 minutes, then increase to 350 for 15 minutes or until done. An inserted toothpick should come out clean.
