6 strips of thick-cut bacon
3 16-oz cans of beans in tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp dry mustard
1/2 medium onion, diced

Directions:
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Put bacon in a large skillet and fry over medium heat until browned but not crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove bacon to a paper towel-lined plate and remove all but 4 Tbsp. of bacon fat from the skillet.

In a bowl, add the beans, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, dry mustard, onions and the 4 Tbsp. of bacon fat. Mix well. Put into a 8" x 8" casserole dish. Lay the reserved bacon strips on top of the bean mixture.
Bake until heated through, 30 to 45 minutes.

I saw this recipe on the Food Network and loved the simplicity of it.
Baked beans from scratch take hours ... all day actually... and this is an easy substitute.
