3 tbsp. butter
2 onions thinly sliced.
salt and pepper
3 tbsp. white wine

4 slices sour dough bread
butter
1 C grated Gruyere cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter and add onion cook until softened, 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper cover.
Over medium-low ,cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown (about 25 minutes). Increase heat to medium high stir in wine scraping up brown bits from bottom of pot cook 1 minute and remove from heat.

Assemble sandwiches: heat large skillet over medium heat. Spread each side of bread aa with butter. Place 2 slices on skillet and top each with 1/4 cup grated Gruyere cheese half the onion mixture. and another 1/4 cup grated cheese then top with other slices of bread
Cook turning once until golden brown and cheese is melted . (3 or 4 minutes per side)
