1 1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
1/2 t. salt
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. unblanched almonds
1/2 t. soda
1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
1/2 c. semisweet chocolate pieces, melted
1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts


Directions:

Combine first 5 ingredients in saucepan. Boil on medium heat stirring often to 290o. Stir in soda, blanched almonds and walnuts. Pour in greased pan. Cool 5 minutes. Spread with melted chocolate and sprinkle with finely chopped nuts. Break into pieces when cooled.

This recipe was written in a little note book shaped like a World Book "A" volume. I remember the fun I had a Fair time when Grandma worked the World Book booth and I got to help. I've learned over time that you should not make candy on a cloudy/rainy day......
