Cook over medium heat until dissolved:
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. cocoa

Cream:
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs + 1 egg yolk

Combine:
2 1/3 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt

Add to shortening and sugar alternately with:
1 scant cup milk
1 t. vanilla

Add 1/2 t. soda to the cocoa/milk mixture and add this immediately to batter.

Bake at 350o for approximately 30-35 minutes.

Mom says Aunt Annie got this recipe out of the Chronical 75 years ago. Grandma used to make this cake a lot. She used to bake cakes for other people and this was one of their favorites. This cake melts in your mouth...unless you over cook it.....
