2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup white corn syrup
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. glycerine (can be purchased from a pharmacy and is an important ingredient in this recipe)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 T butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, water, corn syrup, salt and glycerine in a heavy saucepan.
Bring to a boil. and cook to a temperature of 258 degrees F.
Remove from heat and let stand for two to three minutes.
Then add vanilla and butter and stir vigorously until butter is melted.
Pour into buttered cookie sheet.
Cool until lukewarm taffy can be handled.

With clean dry hands, take a portion of taffy and stretch and pull and stretch and pull. Until the taffy turns white.

The kids loved this when they were growing up!! Tastes so good!! If they had a birthday party at the Lion House they got to make it. A lot of our kids had their 8th birthday there.
