1½ c shortening
1½ c butter, softened
2 lb brown sugar
4 eggs
2 qt and 1 c flour
1 tsp salt
4 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ground cloves
4 tsp ground ginger

Sugar for dipping dough balls

Note: ½ batch recommended

Preheat oven to 375º.

Combine butter, sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and continue to mix. In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients. Slowly add dry to wet ingredients. Roll cookie dough into small balls, dip in sugar and drop two drops of water on top of each.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
