Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1 cup butter room temperature
2 tbsp yeast
¾ cup lukewarm water
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
6 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in the lukewarm water, and 1 tsp sugar and let rise.
Scald milk and cool. Put milk, butter, yeast and salt in large bowl.
Beat in enough flour to make stiff batter. Add more flour to make smooth soft dough. Knead well, cover and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down again and let rise again.

Now form buns the size of a large walnut and some a bit smaller, placing the smaller bun on top of a larger one on a greased pan, pressing down in the smaller one firmly with one finger to make an indent. Let rise till double in bulk.

Bake in oven 350ºF for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Saturday was always bun making day. The best buns were always fresh out of the oven. Often Oma would make pizza dough out of the same recipe. Somehow everyone knew when the baking was coming out of the oven.....even the girls' boyfriends!
