1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sugar
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 Tablespoon butter
2 cups chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:

In a heavy saucepan combine sugar , salt and soda
Add buttermilk
Cook on low to medium until it reaches a soft ball stage
stirring constantly. Let it cook about a minute more
Remove from heat and stir in butter, vanilla and pecans
Stir until it looses it’s gloss and starts to look creamy
I set the pan in a little cold water in the sink while stirring
A wooden spoon does great

You should already have buttered wax paper ready
Spoon onto the wax paper
Work fast when you see it getting creamy It gets hard fast
