3 sticks salted butter
1½ c. powdered sugar
2⅔ c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1½ T. baking grade matcha powder (buy from Lupicia)

Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a small bowl, combine flour & matcha powder. Set aside. In large bowl of electric mixer, cream butter and sugar. Add flour mixture and vanilla; mix well. (**Stir in arare if you are making the arare version.) Drop dough by using small ice cream scooper onto ungreased baking sheets and flatten slightly with the back of the ice cream scooper or your fingers. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Rotate baking sheet half way at 10 minutes. Yields 60 cookies.

**For arare mochi crunch version, omit matcha powder and add 1 cup of crushed arare (Japanese rice crackers). One bag (4 oz.) Tamoe brand, any shape arare equivalent to 1 cup. Happy baking everyone!
