2 1/2 lbs. beef cubes (5 cups)
2 T. all-purpose flour
1 T. paprika
1 t. chili powder
2 t. salt
3 T. shortening
2 sliced onions
1 clove garlic, minced
1 28 oz. can tomatoes
3 T. chili powder
1 T. cinnamon
1 t. ground cloves
1/2 to 1 t. dry crushed red pepper
2 c. chopped potatoes
2 c. chopped carrots

Directions:

Coat beef with flour, paprika and 1 t. chili powder and salt. Brown in hot shortening in a large dutch oven. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft. Then add tomatoes, chili powder, cinnamon, cloves and red pepper. Cover and simmer for 2 hours. Add potatoes and carrots and cook until vegetables are tender, about 45 minutes.
