Hand chop small or put in food processor:
2 carrots
2 stalks celery
1 onion
Put in large sauce pan with one tablespoon of butter and stir
together.

Add one pound of mushrooms sliced in small pieces. Stir again
Add 3 cans of beef broth and bring to boil
And let vegetables cook about 20 minutes to soften.

Add one box of quick barley (Cooks in 10 minutes) and
cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Add salt & pepper to taste.
If gets too thick – add more broth or water.
