1 c. butter flavored Crisco
¾ c. sugar
¾ c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 ½ c. flour
1 - 12 oz package chocolate chips
2 c. old fashioned oatmeal (not quick cook variety)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars until well mixed. Add in eggs and stir. Add in salt, soda, hot water and vanilla. Stir in flour, add chocolate chips and then add in oatmeal and mix well.

Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.
Bake for 9-10 minutes until golden brown at 375º .

I tend to take them out when they are still a little less done on the top as they continue to cook a bit after they come out of the oven.
