Robert Aragon

2 tablespoons cooking oil
3 tablespoons flour
2- 3 tablespoons red chile powder from Hatch, NM (choose your heat, we like medium or mix hot with mild)
2 cups water
1 teaspoons salt
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
Optionally can add browned ground beef or pork strips.

Heat oil in frying pan.
Add flour and stir to make a rue.
Add salt and garlic powder, stirring.
Add chile powder, stir.
Add water.
Simmer, stirring.
It will thicken.
When it gets to desired thickness, may add cooked meat or just use without meat to pour over eggs, mix with beans for chili, etc. Robert likes to use chicken bouillion instead of salt.
