Ingredients:  
1 large green or red bell pepper cut in chunks.
1 medium onion sliced in chunks
1 tomato cut in chunks
¾ cup mushrooms cut up
½ lb. beef steak sliced thinly into strips

2 tablespoons soy sauce
½ tablespoon cooking sherry or Sake
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ tablespoon corn starch

¼ cup cooking oil (canola, corn, olive, whatever)

Directions:

Mix soy sauce, Sake or cooking sherry, baking soda and cornstarch in a bowl.
Stir the steak strips into the soy sauce mixture and set aside.
Heat half of oil in wok or fry pan .
Stir in sauce/meat, frying for about 2 - 3 minutes.
Remove from wok and set aside.
Add the rest of the oil and stir fry onion, bell pepper, tomato and mushrooms until cooked, but still firm.
Add beef again and cook through.
May serve with rice.

I got this recipe from my boss' wife when I lived in New Mexico. She got it when they lived in Japan. It's easy and very tasty.
