1 stick unsalted butter
8 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped or broken
3 c. 10X confectioner's sugar
⅔ c. milk (scalded)
⅓ t. salt
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In top of double boiler over barely simmering water, melt butter and chocolate, stirring until cool. Let cool. In large bowl, sift 10X with electric mixer and with electric mixer, beat in scalded milk with salt and vanilla, beating until smooth. Add chocolate mixture and beat till smooth. Set bowl in larger bowl of ice water and beat till spreading consistency. Makes 2 ½ c., enough for a double layer 8" or 9" cake.
