2 c corn meal
1 c flour
1 egg beaten
2 ½ c milk
pinch of salt
1 Tab
sugar
Oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients into bowl. Add oil to skillet, heat till hot. Drop about 4 spoonful’s of batter into the skillet to form pancake. Cook till brown on the edges are brown. Flip fast with a knife or spatula.
Careful! The oil is hot!

The recipe is as close as I could get to Grandma Norris’ “cornbreads”.
This was my favorite food when I visited Norfolk. We put butter on them. Many people eat them with syrup.
