1/2 cup (4 ounces) butter
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º or 375º.

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt and mix. Cream the butter, and add sugar slowly; cream until fluffy. Stir in well-beaten egg yolks and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the cream. Chill for one hour, roll and cut in any desired shape. Sprinkle with sugar before baking. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

First Lady Mamie Eisenhower became the wife of our 34th president, Dwight D. Eisenhower, in 1953, at the young age of 19. Mamie Eisenhower was known for her great pride in her husband and home. Mamie met Ike in 1915 when he was a young second lieutenant, and they became engaged on Valentine's Day,1916.Throughout Ike's military career, Mamie estimated that, in 37 years, she had unpacked her household at least 27 times. Ike and Mamie retired to their farm near Gettysburg in 1961.They are both buried on the grounds of the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, Kansas.
