2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
6 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together the butter and sugar; add eggs (one at a time) and beat well. Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda and salt and add alternately to the creamed mixture with the buttermilk and vanilla, mix well.

Divide the dough into 6 or 7 parts. Use a well floured board to roll out each section of dough. Pat each part into the bottom of a well greased 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 450° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and carefully remove from pan.
