2 packages dry granular yeast
½ cup warm (not hot) water
¾ cup lukewarm milk
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup shortening
2 eggs
3 ¼ cups sifted all purpose flour

Sift dry ingredients together into mixing bowl.

Add remaining ingredients. Beat two minutes on electric mixer or by hand 300 strokes.

Spoon into greased muffin cups (paper liners, if desired) ½ to 2/3 full. Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes. Frost with white frosting and decorate with nuts, shaved chocolate, fruit or flowers for variations.
