1 c. butter or margarine
2 c. chopped onion
2 c. chopped celery
2 pkgs. of Shawnee cornbread
12-13 cups dry bread cubes or (mixed bread & cornbread)
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sage
1 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 Granny Smith green apple, cubed
3 1/2 to 4 1/2 cups Swanson chicken broth
2 well beaten eggs

Directions:
The day before cook cornbread as directed on package. Put bread in oven to dry out.
The next day melt butter in skillet; saute' onions & celery. Pour over bread/cornbread cubes in very large mixing bowl. Add all seasonings and Granny Smith apples & toss together well. Pour in enough broth to moisten, add beaten eggs, and mix together. Pack lightly into crockpot. Cover & cook on high 45 minutes, reduce to low for 4 - 8 hours. (This fills just about a 3 1/2 quart crockpot.)
