2 cups sifted flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup shortening
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
½ cup *buttermilk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Sift together flour, sugar, soda and cinnamon. Heat together butter or margarine, shortening, cocoa and water. Bring to a boil and add to dry ingredients. Mix well and blend in buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Pour into greased 9x13x2 inch pan and bake in 375º oven for 25 minutes or until done. Spread with icing while still warm.

*½ tablespoon vinegar plus enough milk to make ½ cup may be used instead of buttermilk.

6 tablespoons milk
1 pound confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans

Mix together till well blended.

This is an old family recipe that is a favorite of the kids and grandkids. I got it in a monthly bill in Odessa over 50 years ago. It was one of Mike and Donna's favorites growing up.
