1 pastry for 2 crust pie
¾ c sugar
¼ c flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg
6 c peeled, sliced apples
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, flour, and spices. Combine sugar mixture with apples and lemon juice. Mix well.

Fill pastry shell with apples. Dot with butter. Place top pastry over filling. Seal and flute edge. Slash top for steam to escape. Place pie on a piece of aluminum foil to catch drips.

Bake on lower oven rack at 450ºF oven for 10 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350ºF and continue baking for 40-50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
