Another one of my mothers recipes. Oh I loved my mothers cooking. She was such a great cook. After I was married I remember her calling me and saying, "hey, I just made a pot of chili. Do you want to come over and have some with me?" I loved it. We would eat it with crackers and like a Coke or something. Or maybe a grilled cheese sandwich. Do you know what she really liked and made so well, were Grilled tuna and cheese sandwiches. She would put sweet relish in it. It was yummy!!!I loved this story of her's. When she was young, about 12 she went to town on the Trolly to visit her sister Twilla who lived downtown. They went to Kress' for lunch. Aunt Twilla ordered Grilled Tuna and Cheese sandwiches. When they were done Aunt Twilla asked my mom if she wanted dessert. She said no, "but I would really love another Grilled Tuna and Cheese Sandwich." I don't know why? But I love that story. Probably because it is something I would do and say!! And I remember that Kress' downtown main street. You could walk in on Main Street and exit on 3rd South.
