1/3 c sliced almonds
4 slices bacon
1 chopped small onion
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp chili powder
1 pound green beans, ends removed
1/4 c water
1/4 c white wine
11/2 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese
salt

1. In 10" frying pan over medium high heat, stir almonds until lightly toasted (about 4 minutes). Pour from pan; set aside
2. In the pan, cook bacon over medium heat until evenly brown. Drain on paper towels; crumble when cool
3. Discard all but 2 tbs dripping from pan. Add garlic, onikon, lemon juice, and chili powder. Stir often over medium heat
until onion is limp (7-10 min)
4. As onion cooks, rinse green beans and cut into 2" lengths
5. When onion is limp, add beans, wine, water to pan. Cover and cook until beans are tender to the bite
(about 7-10 min)
6. Mix bacon and almonds with beans, then sprinkle with cheese. Cover and heat until cheese begins to melt
7. Season to taste with salt
