3/4 C. Shortening, softened
1 C. Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1/4 C. Molasses
2 1/2 C. Flour
2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Cloves
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp. Ginger
1/2 C. Sugar
1 bag Candy Corn

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together thoroughly in large mixing bowl, the shortening, brown sugar, egg & molasses. Soft together the flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon & ginger. Add Dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Mix well. Chill dough for at least 1 Hr. Roll chilled dough into balls the size of a whole walnut. Dip tops in sugar & place sugar side up, 3" apart on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2-3 drops of water to produce a crackled surface. Bake just until set, but not hard, about 10-12 Min. at 375 degrees. Immediately after removing from oven, press a candy corn in the middle of each cookie. Yields 4 dozen 2 1/2" cookies.

These are good in the fall as they taste good with apple cider & make the whole house smell good.
