2 cups all purpose flour
½ tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
½ tsp cream of tarter
2 tsp sugar
½ cup shortening
⅔ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together 3 times.

Cut in shortening with pastry cutter. Should look like fine cornmeal
"Make a well" in center of dry ingredients.
Add almost all of milk and stir with a fork just until dough "follows fork around bowl"
Add little more milk if necessary.

Turn dough onto floured pastry board. Should be soft and easy to handle.
Fold dough over on itself and knead 8-10 times.
Roll out dough to ½ inch thick. Cut into circles.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops with milk

Bake in hot oven 450º - 475º for 10 - 12 minutes.
