2¼ cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¾ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbls milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped dates (optional)
⅓ cup chopped Maraschino Cherries
Extra Cherries for decorating tops
2½ cups Cornflakes - crushed
Directions:
Directions:
Sift together dry ingredients.
Combine shortening, sugar, eggs, milk & vanilla - Cream well.
Blend in dry ingredients and add pecans, dates, chopped cherries.

Shape into balls using level Tbls of dough for each cookie.
Roll each ball of cookie dough in cornflakes. Place on greased baking sheet.
Top each cookie with 1/4 cherry

Bake in 375º oven for 10-12 minutes.
