1½ cup sugar
½ cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 Tbls cocoa
1 cup buttermilk
2 ounces Red food coloring
1 tsp vinilla
1 tsp soda in 1 Tbls vinegar



White Frosting Ingredients:
¼ cup flour,
¼ tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup margarine or butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Cake Preparation
Cream the sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well.
Sift flour, salt, cocoa and add to creamed mix w Buttermilk.
Add vanilla and red coloring. Fold in soda and vinegar.

You can bake the cake in 2 round cake pans, 1 bundt pan or make cupcakes.
Bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes or until it tests done.

White Frosting Preparation:
Mix flour, salt and milk until blended. Cook on stove top until very thick.
Cool thoroughly (in refrigerator if desired)
Cream 1 cup butter/margarine and 1 cup sugar until fluffy.
Add 1 tsp vanilla and the cooled mixture above. Beat well

Frost cooled cake(s) or cupcakes if desired
