2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sour milk (*See Note)
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

*NOTE: To make sour milk, add 1/4 teaspoon of lemon juice to 1/4 cup milk.

Preheat oven to 350º.

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add milk to mashed bananas.

Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy; add the eggs and beat well. Add the dry ingredients and milk mixture, alternating between. Add vanilla and stir.

Pour mixture into 2 round pans or one 9" x 13" pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
