¾ cup butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses

2 cups flour
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger

Granualted sugar for dipping the cookies

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º
Grease cookie sheets

Cream butter and brown sugar until well blended
Add egg and molasses and mix well.
Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and spices.
Add egg and molasses mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.

Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.

Roll into 1 inch diameter balls and dip into granulated sugar.

Bake for 12 minutes.
