1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1-3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
2-1/2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
1 cup raisins
1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and beat until mixture is light in color. Add buttermilk; mix to combine. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder and spices; stir into creamed mixture. Fold in oatmeal, raisins, walnuts and vanilla; blend well. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350ºF for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 5 dozen
