1 lb. green beans- cut and trimmed to 1-2 inch pieces
4 TBSP olive oil
1 TBSP whole black mustard seeds ( can substitute yellow if unable to find black)
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 - 1 tsp red pepper flakes, crushed ( add less for less heat)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cook green beans in boiling water for 3-4 minutes in deep pot and then immediately transfer to ice water to retain color.
Have all other ingredients ready
Heat oil in same pot and add mustard seeds. When they start to pop add the garlic until light brown.
Add pepper flakes and stir for a few seconds.
Add beans salt and sugar and stir.
Decrease heat and stir fry for 7-8 minutes to taste.
Serve.

Can be served immediately or can be served at room temperature. Can be made a day ahead .
