"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
1 C. strong coffee, at room temperature
1 C. soy sauce
1 tsp. pepper
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. olive oil
2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 (2-pound) flank steak

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large ziptop plastic bag, mixing them together well. Add flank steak and marinate in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours. Let flank steak sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before grilling. Preheat grill with high heat. Remove flank steak from marinade and pat it dry with paper towels. Grill for about 4 to 5 minutes per side. You want to serve flank steak on the rare side for best flavor and texture. When you press on it with your finger, it should not feel squishy, but you don't want it to feel firm either. It should have some give. Let flank steak rest at least 10 minutes and then slice thinly against the grain with knife at a diagonal. Serves 4.

Personal Notes:
Surprisingly, this recipe was good. Instead of grilling, I will occasionally broil it in the oven. Still comes out good.
