1 pound ground lean turkey, 93% fat recommended
1 green bell pepper, diced small
1 medium sized hatch green chile, diced small, or one 4 ounce can rinsed and drained
2 medium-sized yellow onions, chopped
8 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tbsp ground cumin
2 tsp dried mexican oregano
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
2 bay leaves
28 ounce can fire roasted crushed tomatoes
1 can refried black beans
2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
sliced jalapeños to serve as a topping
shredded cheddar to serve as a topping
sour cream to serve as a topping
green onions

Directions:
Directions:
Sauté peppers and onions for 5 minutes just until they begin to soften. Add cumin, oregano, cayenne, chopped garlic, and ground turkey and cook until turkey is no longer pink.

Add crushed tomatoes, refried beans, black beans and bay leaves. Stir. Once the mixture starts to boil reduce to a simmer and cook uncovered for another 45-60 minutes before removing bay leaves. Add salt to taste if needed.

Serve with jalapeños, cheese, sour cream and green onions as garnishes and cornbread muffins.

Tastes best if made a day ahead so flavors have chance to blend. I'd consider this medium spicy chili. If you like your chili really spicy boost the cayenne pepper to ½ teaspoon and add half a jalapeño pepper to the onion, bell pepper, and chilies when you sauté them.
