1 cup Crisco or Lard
1 cup Sugar or Brown Sugar (or 1/2 cup of each)
2 1/4 cups Sifted All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Solda
1/8 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
Blanched Almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Cream Crisco with sugar, add egg and mix well.

Add dry ingredients that have been sifted together, mix and add almond extract.

Shape into 1 inch balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet with ample space to allow for expansion.

Press an almond in the center of each ball.

Bake at 375º for 15 minutes.
