½ cup shortening
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 1/2 cup raisins*
2 cups oatmeal
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
*soak raisins in boiling water while you prep the cookies so they plump.

Mix shortening, butter, sugars and eggs until fluffy

Mix together dry ingredients: flour, soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and oatmeal.

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Add drained raisins.

Drop onto prepped cookie sheets

Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Named by my Grandma Charlotte Johnson for my Grandpa Harry Johnson, they are loaded with sugar – but well worth it, the sugars caramelize and it’s wonderful. I’ve added dried cranberries to add some color. These are always a hit
