1/2 cup ground hazelnuts
1/2 pound butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 egg yolks

Topping:
2 egg whites
1/2 cup sugar
sprinkles

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300º.

Cream butter. Add sugar and egg yolks. Mix well and add flour and ground nuts. Roll out and cut with doughnut cutter. Beat egg whites until stiff and add sugar. Spread meringue mix over cookies and decorate with sprinkles. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

I chill the dough, and it does work better if you roll the dough between waxed paper and use a small metal spatula, dusted with flour, to pick up the cookies and place on the cookie sheet. I then place the meringue on, and decorate while on the cookie sheet.
