1 cup yogurt
1 cup water
1 teaspoonful sugar or a cube of jaggery and pinch of turmeric
2 tsp. Besan ( channa ata)
cinnamon stick, Ghee, mustard and jeera for seasoning
Half green chilli and 1.2 tsp. red chilli powder
salt to taste

1.Mix both yogurt, water and Besan (chic pea flour)
2. Blend together
3.Add salt, sugar and turmeric mix well
4. Place a pot on the fire and add ghee, a 1 inch cinnamon stick, mustard and jeera until it crackles
5. Pour the mixture slowly and stir constantly on slow fire until it boils.
6. Serve with rice or Khichdi

My husband's favourite. Kadhi is an accompaniment with any rice dish or pilau. It is often a tangy sweet soup made with buttermilk and chic pea flour.
