⅓ cup butter or margarine
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
1½ cups flour
1¼ tsp baking powder
½ tsp soda
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp cinnamon
½ cup buttermilk
1 Tbsp water
½ cup raisins
1 tsp grated lemon rind
¼ cup chopped walnuts


Crumble Topping
2 Tbsp melted butter or margarine
2 Tbsp flour
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp cinnamon
⅛ tsp salt
¼ cup chopped walnuts
1 tsp grated lemon rind

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º
Grease a 9 inch square pan

Combine butter and sugar and beat until creamy and fluffy. Beat in egg.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Add sifted ingredients altenately with buttermilk and water into the butter mixture.
Fold in raisins, lemon rind and nuts.

Spread half the batter in the pan, and sprinkle with half the crumble mixture.
Spread the remaining half batter over the top and top with the remaining crumble mixture

Bake for 40 - 50 minutes.
Serve warm
