4 or 5 peeled apples, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick. For better flavor get different apples (enough to cover bottom of dish, approx. 2 layers of apples)
3 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar (white)
1 teaspoon cinnamon for apples
1 teaspoon cinnamon for topping
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup uncooked rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
5 1/5 tablespoons cold unsalted butter or margarine

Heat the oven to 350°F and arrange a rack in the middle.

Coat baking dish with butter or margarine (dish 8x8 to 12x12 size dish)

Combine the apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon of the salt in a large bowl and toss to coat. Place the apple mixture in baking dish.

In a bowl, mix together the cinnamon brown sugar, oats, flour, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. With your fingers blend in the butter pieces until small clumps form and the butter is well mixed.

Add topping evenly over the apples.

Bake until light golden crispy about 40 to 60 minutes.

Let cool and best when served warm
