Maxine's Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup Crisco
1 cup sour milk (add 2 tbsp. of vinegar to milk to make a cup)
5 cups flour

Mix above ingredients, then add:
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Refrigerate overnight, then roll out on floured surface (the thicker you roll the dough the softer the cookie.) Cut out desired shapes and place on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges. Cool on wire rack.
*This recipe also makes great filled cookies. Cut the dough into circles about 3" in diameter. Top with filling and then place another circle with small slits on top and press edges to seal. Sprinkle a little sugar on top before you bake.
Apricot Filling: a jar of Baker's Apricot fine dessert filling
Raisin Filling:
½ white sugar
½ water
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. flour
Mix together and boil until thick. Let cook a litte bit and than place a small amount on each cookie bottom.
