1 (16 oz) pkg. dry ziti pasta
1 lb. Italian sausage
1 (15 oz.) container ricotta cheese
1 egg
1 large onion, minced
2 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. dried oregano
½ tsp. each of salt & pepper
1½ (26 oz.) jars spaghetti sauce
1 (8 oz.) pkg. shredded Italian cheese blend
1 tsp. dried basil (optional)

Preheat oven 350º. Grease 9x13 baking dish. Cook pasta for about 8 mins. and drain.
While pasta is cooking, cook sausage, drain and set aside.
Stir together ricotta, egg, onion, garlic and oregano in a large bowl.
Stir in pasta, sausage, salt, pepper, and 1/2 jar of spaghetti sauce and mix well.
In baking dish, cover the bottom with 1/3 jar of spaghetti sauce, layer 1/2 of the pasta mixture, 1/3 jar of sauce and 1/2 of the shredded cheese. Then layer the remaining 1/2 of the pasta, 1/3 of the sauce, and 1/2 of the cheese. Sprinkle with basil. Cover dish with foil.
Bake 20 mins. Uncover and put back in the oven until cheese is melted, 5-10 more minutes.
